On Saturday the speedway season comes to a close at the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium when Leicester race against Sheffield, King’s Lynn and a Premier League Select in a Four Team Tournament.
Kevin Doolan and Jan Graversen will be in the Lions team along with Chris Widman who lives in Leicestershire and rides for the Isle of Wight. The Premier League Select are fielding two of the top riders in Ben Barker and Richie Worrall and Sheffield are represented by Josh Auty and the Compton brothers, Andre and Benji. King’s Lynn, the National League play-off finalists are the fourth club and they have called upon Richard Lawson, the Pride of the Midlands winner at Leicester earlier this season, to front their challenge along with Tom Perry and Steve Worrall.
The Lions Co-promoter Alan Jones said: “It has been an incredible few days in trying to assemble four teams of similar strength and we are in the process of putting the final touches together in order to make an attractive line-up for fans. As we are in the last few days of the official closure of the season, riders have gone back home, have mothballed their equipment or attending the many club dinner and dances that are happening up and down the country this weekend. Nevertheless, there will be a number of top entertainers on show on Saturday.”
Confirmation of the full team line-ups will follow once completed and the meeting will start at the usual time of 7.30 pm. The senior event will be followed by a Midlands Development League fixture between the Long Eaton Invaders and King’s Lynn.
