From today’s home fixture against the Eastbourne Eagles fans will be able to travel in comfort from the car-park to the Jordan Road Surfacing stadium and return the same way after the meeting by a golf buggy.
“Attendances so far at Leicester this season have been extremely good and with the increase it has tested our infrastructure somewhat. As a result our ‘blue badge’ designated car parking area has filled up very quickly and unfortunately some fans have had to park in the main car park. We are conscious that this is not a satisfactory situation for people who cannot walk any distance so we have purchased a golf buggy to transport people to and from the stadium on match days” explained the Rapid Solicitors Lions Promoter David Hemsley.
The buggy will operate as a continuous service from the stadium car park starting two hours before the meeting. The service will then be available again from near to the main gates after heat 15 and on the days that there is a Midland Development League fixture the buggy will continue to operate through to the completion of the junior event.
“The innovation, which we believe is a first in modern times for a speedway club, will add more value to a night out at Leicester Speedway for people who may feel daunted by the prospect of walking along the path to the stadium which is on an incline. For this reason they may have discounted themselves from attending our home fixtures so I am pleased that we can offer this service to those in need.
“We would urge fans to first of all try to park in the ‘blue badge’ area near to the pits and if full, to head towards the main car park where we are reserving an area for ‘blue badge’ holders before taking advantage of the golf buggy facility” added Hemsley.
