Leicester travel to Poole on Wednesday looking to make up for their poor performance at Lakeside on Friday where the Rapid Solicitors Lions suffered their heaviest defeat of the season.
It will be the first occasion since 14th April that the club has not had to rely upon guest riders to complete their team following the double signing of Krzysztof Buczkowski and Nicolai Klindt last week.
“Since April we have had to fall back on the use of sixteen guest riders to cover for injuries and whilst there will be occasions when we will have to dip back into the guest rider system due to fixture clashes I am hoping that we can now look forward to a more settled period” explained the Lions Team Manager Norrie Allan.
It will be a challenging baptism for the newcomers as Poole are the 2013 Elite League Champions and are currently in sixth place with matches in hand over the teams above them. The Pirates quest for a place in the top four received a setback last month as both Coventry and King’s Lynn came away from the Wimborne Road Stadium with the match points.
“We go there in the knowledge that two teams have already won at Poole this season so it is not beyond reasonableness to think that we can get something out of this match. Having a settled side makes all the difference to team spirit and having the same race partner cultivates understanding and confidence between each other whereas this has not been possible due to the necessity of employing guest riders for such a long period” added Allan.
Poole are led by the talented Australian Darcey Ward who is sixth in the Grand Prix standings after five rounds of the competition and he will be partnered by Edward Kennett who stands-in as a guest for the injured Josh Grajczonek.
