LIONS 45 SWINDON 47 (EL)

Guest rider Rory Schlein, Simon Stead and new signing Krzysztof Buczkowski shone for Leicester but they were unable to prevent the Rapid Solicitors Lions from losing their Elite League fixture at the hands of the Swindon Robins at the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium last night.

With Josh Bates continuing his good form for Leicester it was virtually a four man side against the visitors who had strength in depth and with only three riders unplaced together with a race exclusion the statistics tells its own story. Leicester launched a late rally but it was all too late as Swindon held on to a deserved win by 47 points to 45.

"Time and time again we were caught napping at the start which enabled Swindon to build up twelve point lead. When the track was regraded and watered it favoured us as we scored three maximums in the last five races but the damage had already been done. Rory Schlein was magnificent for us and so too was Simon Stead who played a great captain's role in the absence of Mads. I could not have wished for a better performance from Krzysztof Buczkowski who took a dreadful fall in his first race but came back to score double figures on his home debut and young Josh Bates had another good night and did his job at reserve" commented the Lions team manager Norrie Allan.
