Leicester have made an early start to their team building plans for 2015 with the signing of Szymon Woźniak who agreed terms on Friday with the Lions Promoter David Hemsley.
The twenty-one year old who rides for his home town club Polonia Bydgoszcz ended the season top of his team’s match averages and in September the Rapid Solicitors Lions first signing beat off the challenges of several experienced riders to win the Polish Under-21 Final finishing one point ahead of Piotr Pawlicki.
“I am looking forward to racing for Leicester next year which will be my first in British Speedway. At the start of every season I set myself targets that are challenging but not unrealistic and I see the experience of riding different tracks to what I am used to in Sweden, Denmark and at home in Poland another part of my career development. I am ambitious and want to score well for Leicester and one of my long term goals is to qualify for the World Championships” explained Woźniak.
As a newcomer to the UK Woźniak will start his career with Leicester on an assessed match average and upon completion of four home and away fixtures he will gain a real-time figure for team selection purposes.
“Szymon came highly recommended to us through Norrie Allan’s contacts in Poland. He has scored well throughout Europe this year and was rewarded with a win in his country’s National Individual Under-21 Championship recently. We are delighted to have completed a deal with Szymon and look forward to working with him next season” stated David Hemsley.
