LEICESTER collected their first Elite League win of the season with a 50-40 success over Belle Vue – leaving the Aces point-less from a busy week of three away matches.
Skipper Jason Doyle led the way for the Lions with 13 points, a total matched by visiting counterpart Scott Nicholls but it was the home side who were the stronger all-round.
Lions boss Norrie Allan: “This was a must win match for us after losing our first home fixture last week and we made a confident enough start which gave everyone a lift.
“Belle Vue kept us on our toes and twice reduced our lead to two points and we were unable to relax until we wrapped up the match with one race to go. There was maximum effort from everyone and it was a relief to get our season off the ground and points on the board.”
