LIONS 45 KING'S LYNN 45

Leicester’s Elite League fixture against King’s Lynn at Beaumont Park ended in a 45-45 draw.

With both teams operating rider replacement it was the Stars who benefited slightly more than the Lions through this facility. Nevertheless, with Nicolai Klindt scoring heavily from reserve and Szymon Wozniak winning three of his first four rides the Paul Chapman and Sons Lions were equal to the visitor’s top performers, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Mads Korneliussen and Robert Lambert.

There was little to decide between the two teams until a 5-1 from Patrick Hougaard and Nicolai in Heat 11 opened up a lead of six points for the first time in the meeting. The Stars reduced the margin two races later and entering the final heat King’s Lynn snatched a draw through the tenacity of Robert Lambert who worked his way through from the back to second place behind Iversen who earlier had broken the track record.

“I thought that the scores would be close and whilst King’s Lynn benefited slightly more than we did from the rider replacement facility we should have won the match. It was in our hands and with everything considered we have to feel disappointed with the result” said Norrie Allan.
