POOLE 58 LIONS 35

LEICESTER went down to a 58-35 Elite League defeat on Thursday evening at Poole's Wimborne Road stadium.

The Pirates were in a dominating mood and launched into the meeting to lead by twelve points after four races. The margin provided an early opportunity to play the tactical card and Aaron Summers rose to the challenge, gaining six points for a win.

Szymon Wozniak then won Heat 6 and Patrick Hougaard did likewise before the interval but in between the Pirates continued to build upon their lead. After the break Chris Holder added a third win to his total and with Kyle Newman securing third place the outcome guaranteed that the match points would remain in Dorset.

Heats 12 and 14 went Leicester’s way through wins for their best and most consistent rider Josh Auty and Nicolai Klindt but it was too late to make a significant difference to the end result.

POOLE 58: Chris Holder 15, Krzysztof Buczkowski 11+1, Adam Ellis 10+1, Hans Andersen 6+3, Brady Kurtz 6+2, Michael Palm Toft 5+1, Kyle Newman 5.

LEICESTER 35: Aaron Summers 9, Josh Auty 8, Patrick Hougaard 6, Nicolai Klindt 5, Szymon Wozniak 4, Paul Starke 2, Todd Kurtz 1.
