Leicester travel to Dorset for a second time this month to race against the Poole Pirates tonight.
On their last visit to the Wimborne Road Stadium twenty days ago the Lions were unable to contain an in-form Pirates team who registered a 58 points to 35 win.
“Poole give very little away around their own circuit and it was very much the case against us. We won three of the fifteen heats and drew two but in between we were unable to match their speed with only one rider in my team able to compete on equal terms with the opposition” remarked the Lions Team Manager, Norrie Allan.
Josh Auty was Leicester’s most consistent rider with eight points that night which included a win over the previously unbeaten Adam Ellis in the twelfth heat.
“We had too many pointless rides and that is a situation that we need to avoid on our return visit if we are to seriously challenge Poole’s dominance. They are aiming to finish top of the league which will give them choice of who they want to meet in the play-off semi-finals. The Pirates will not underestimate us I am sure but no doubt they will feel confident having beaten us once already at home. We have improved our away form since the start of the season so we should not be too overawed by the challenge ahead but need to get some early successes in the match which will lift the team and give them a belief ” added Allan.
Whilst Poole are at full strength the Lions are without Patrick Hougaard who has a Danish League commitment and are operating rider replacement at number one tonight.
