LEICESTER - THE ENTERTAINERS!

NEW Leicester chief Damien Bates is promising fans a feast of entertainment in a new era for the club.

Bates, who takes charge after securing the club from British Speedway chairman Keith Chapman, says the revamped Lions side will put on a real show for supporters.

He’s also looking to step up the club’s social media activity and other promotion to help bring back fans who drifted away during the past two seasons – culminating in the Lions almost going under.

“We will be the entertainers of this league,” he said. “Everyone is buzzing about it, I’m desperate to get those fans back on side who drifted away and to attract new supporters too.

“This is a new era for the club and we have to grab the opportunity with both hands. When you look down the team, we have guys who never know when they’re beaten.

“I can’t believe how popular Danny Ayres is, he likes a celebration that lad, and in the Latvian World Cup star Andzejs Lebedevs we are in for fireworks!

“There will be no pressure on the shoulders of the riders, but we will be looking to go out there and lower the colours of our rivals – I’m also relishing the challenge of taking on our neighbours Coventry and Wolverhampton.

“It’s an exciting time for everyone at Leicester Speedway and we really cannot wait for the tapes to go up.”

Leicester launch the new era with an exciting SGB Premiership clash against Swindon at Beaumont Park on Saturday April 1 – and that means a return for Aussie ace Jason Doyle who went agonisingly close to becoming world champion last year.
