LEICESTER AIM FOR SATURDAY DOUBLE

LEICESTER have two teams in action on Saturday – and both have high hopes of success.

The senior team head to Berwick for a Championship clash which means a return to the scene of their Shield semi-final triumph last month. The teams meet again at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena, Beaumont Park, on Sunday.

And the National League side make the short trip to Stoke to race in the Fours Championship, one of the league’s major events on the calendar.

Club co-promoter Neil Machin said: “It’s a busy weekend for the club but an exciting weekend at the same time.

“The Watling JCB Lions have two important meetings with Berwick with Championship points available as we look to strengthen our play-off place.

“The Roger Webster Lion Cubs are going for national silverware on a big night at Stoke and I know they’ll be doing everything they can to achieve that.

“The youngsters have done themselves and the club proud so far this season and whatever the result at Stoke we will continue to support them. It’s great for us to have such a young team representing the club.”

Steve Worrall replaces twin brother Richie in the Watling JCB Lions side at Berwick and Shelby Rutherford comes in at reserve for Jack Thomas before Joe Lawlor makes his full debut on Sunday.

LEICESTER WATLING JCB LIONS (at Berwick, Saturday, 7pm): Scott Nicholls, Ellis Perks, Josh Bates, Ryan Douglas, Steve Worrall, Shelby Rutherford, Connor Mountain.
LEICESTER ROGER WEBSTER LION CUBS (at Stoke, Saturday, 6.30pm): Danyon Hume, Ryan Terry-Daley, Joe Thompson, Dan Thompson, Luke Whitehead (Reserve).
