LIONS SEAL PROCTOR DEAL

LEICESTER have moved to sign Ty Proctor following his release from Sheffield this week.

The Australian ace was a victim of team restructuring at the South Yorkshire club and Leicester boss Stewart Dickson pounced to snap him up.

Ironically Proctor will make his Watling JCB Lions debut against the club he has just left at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena this Sunday (4pm).

Boss Dickson said: “We need a replacement for the unfortunate Josh Bates and we had initially signed Victor Pavolaara but the deal fell through.

“We were then in talks with a rider who has never ridden in this country but it became too complicated logistically – and then I was told Ty was being released by Sheffield so I was straight on the phone to make my move.

“I know Ty was disappointed to be released by Sheffield but I believe he is a talented rider and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to slot him into our side for Josh.

“We couldn’t continue using rider replacement and guests, the position in the team is an important one and Ty is coming here to do a job for us.

“I’m pretty confident he will prove Sheffield’s loss is very much Leicester’s gain and it just adds spice to Sunday’s meeting here at Leicester.”
