LEICESTER newcomer Nick Morris has this morning been announced as the first rider for the Ben Fund Bonanza at Scunthorpe on Saturday, March 14 (2pm).
The annual fund-raising event is being held for the 11th time with more money set to be raised through the brilliant Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund for injured and disabled riders.
Morris is eager to use the event to test machinery in order to put himself in the strongest possible position to start the season well.
His fellow Wolverhampton star Jacob Thorsell and Scunthorpe fan favourite Josh Auty have also been announced for the meeting.
He said: “I’m looking forward to riding in the Ben Fund meeting. It’s a great meeting to start the season and a great way to raise money for the injured riders.
“I haven’t spent too much time on the bike back home so it will be good to get on a bike again and prepare for what will be another busy season for me.
“Things didn’t work out for me that well last season after playing catch up following the wrist injury.
“I’m going to be using the Ben Fund meeting to test a few things on the bikes. Practicing on your own is good but there’s nothing like a competitive meeting to see where you are in terms of preparation.”
