LEICESTER’S National League team will be heading to Scunthorpe for the first team action of the year in the UK this Bank Holiday Monday (August 31, 3pm).
Club bosses are thrilled to be involved in the action with Dave Howard leading his side at the Eddie Wright Raceway.
Co-promoter Stewart Dickson is busy piecing the team together but he’s promising a strong line-up.
Riders of both teams will be announced over the coming days and limited numbers of fans will be allowed into the Eddie Wright Raceway to enjoy the racing. Bookings can be made on the Scunthorpe website at some stage next week.
Said Dickson: “We are delighted to accept the invitation to send a team to Scunthorpe and we want to go there and win!
“We can also confirm we will look to bring Scunthorpe down to Leicester if or when we are allowed limited crowd numbers in October.
“We’re talking to riders now and we are confident of a strong team to go to Scunthorpe. Dave Howard will have some fine riders to work with.”
Scunthorpe co-promoter Rob Godfrey, who successfully staged the British Youth Championship first round last weekend, is also excited by an added twist to the meeting.
He said: “It’s not just about the conventional 15 heats. We will also be staging four 250cc races with the youngsters representing the teams and those results will count to the progressive total of the meeting – so it will effectively be over 19 heats.
“These will be after heats 3, 6, 9 and 12 and this adds entertainment value for the fans as well as giving the kids a chance to race in a team event. It should be a terrific Bank Holiday event for everyone to enjoy.”
