LEICESTER - JUST ONE CHANGE

LEICESTER boss Stewart Dickson insists he expects the club’s six current Championship riders to all stay in the line-up this season.

Promoters will meet virtually for this winter’s delayed AGM today (Thursday) and much talk has centred around whether it will be possible to retain the same teams as had been planned for the cancelled 2020 campaign.

The Watling JCB Lions definitely have one gap to fill due to the retirement of Ellis Perks, and Dickson says he has options in mind whatever is decided, which would not create the need for any further changes.

That means Lions fans can expect to see Ryan Douglas, Nick Morris, Kyle Howarth, Ty Proctor and Dan and Joe Thompson in the side as planned.

Dickson said: “I definitely expect the six riders we’ve already signed to be part of the team no matter what happens on Thursday.

“We’ve had options to fill the blank space depending on what’s decided at the AGM, and I’m confident we can get something in place.

“As soon as Thursday tells me what I want, we should be able to get it over the line.”

Promoters are targeting a likely May start for the new season having accepted that Easter looks to be on the optimistic side given the expected timeframe of the current lockdown restrictions.

But with the vaccination programme accelerating and better weather in the spring, optimism is high that some sense of normality can return to the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena this year.
